The Ghana Police met with political parties at a high-level meeting to deliberate on election-related violence and preparations for the parliamentary by-election in the Akwatia Constituency.
In a letter inviting the parties to the meeting, the Commissioner of Police and Director-General of Administration, Dr. David Agyemang Adjem, stated that the meeting would serve as a platform to discuss both security and operational arrangements for the polls, as well as the preparedness of the Electoral Commission (EC).
“The meeting would discuss the modalities for the by-election as well as the Electoral Commission’s preparedness and their roadmap for the parliamentary by-election,” the letter read.
The Police Administration expressed confidence in the cooperation of political stakeholders and urged them to attend the engagement.
The Electoral Commission, mandated to conduct the by-election, was also copied in the correspondence.
