Member of Parliament for Ofoase/Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has thrown his weight behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as the New Patriotic Party’s most prepared and widely marketed candidate to lead the party into the 2028 general election.
Speaking to journalists ahead of the nomination filing, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah underscored Dr. Bawumia’s suitability to carry the party’s vision into government.
“The whole essence of a political party is to mobilise numbers to win power so that you can inculcate your ideas into government. Today, there is one person who has come so clean,” he said, pointing to the Vice President’s track record and leadership credentials.
He stressed that Dr. Bawumia’s humility, emotional intelligence, and ability to unite people place him far ahead of other contenders. “Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the most prepared candidate, most marketed across the country and most prepared in terms of his track record and pedigree to ensure that we can win 2028 and govern in 2029,” he stated.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah further argued that having already been marketed during the 2024 general elections, Dr. Bawumia has the recognition and momentum to lead the NPP into victory. He added that the party’s conservative values are strongly embodied in the Vice President, making him the natural choice for leadership at this crucial moment.
