President John Dramani Mahama has handed over the investigative report on the 2020 and 2024 election-related violence to the Attorney-General for further action.

He pledged to fully implement the findings of the report, including the provision of adequate compensation to all victims of the disturbances.

During a courtesy call by executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), led by its president Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, President Mahama said the report details and catalogues everyone who was affected by the violence and the circumstances that led to it.

“We have handed it over to the Attorney-General. The Attorney-General will review it and, where necessary, hold people culpable and bring them to book,” he stated.

The President further noted that government has tasked the Attorney-General to determine appropriate compensation for victims, including families of those who died and persons still living with injuries.

He emphasized that electoral violence has had a wider impact, affecting not only innocent bystanders and political activists but also journalists in the line of duty.
