The Accra High Court has ordered the remand of the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, after he failed to comply with bail conditions requiring him to deposit his passport with the court.
The decision follows a determination by the court that the defendant did not adhere to directives issued as part of his earlier bail granted in an ongoing criminal matter.
Abronye DC, who is facing a charge of false publication brought by the State, was absent when the ruling was delivered. He is currently standing trial at the Circuit Court, where proceedings on the substantive case continue.
Last month, the High Court granted him bail after he had previously been remanded following his arraignment. However, one of the key conditions attached to his release was the surrender of his travel documents to the court.
His alleged failure to comply with this condition prompted the court to revoke the earlier relief and order that he be taken into police custody.
The substantive case remains pending before the Circuit Court, where further hearings are expected in the coming weeks.
