Dr. Hassan Ayariga, Founder and Flagbearer of the All Peoples Congress (APC), has unveiled a bold economic policy ahead of the December 7th polls.

He pledged to implement a one-year economic lockdown if elected President.

According to Ayariga, in his first six months, he would oversee the importation of all necessary goods, followed by a complete lockdown of the economy for a year.

This drastic measure, he explained, would make Ghana self-reliant and eliminate dependency on foreign partners.

“We are importing almost everything, and we are talking about the Cedi appreciating. It can never appreciate,” he emphasized.

Ayariga criticized the existing political parties, particularly the ruling NPP, for their handling of the economy.

He questioned the need for the traditional eight-year leadership cycle, declaring that four years would be enough for him to achieve his goals.

“They are part of the increasing debt stock. They are not serious. They are not using our resources to build and transform our country,” he stated, accusing the NPP of borrowing recklessly to pay workers. He further promised to write off the country’s debt if elected and declared, “That is why you don’t need the NPP or the NDC.”

Beyond his economic plans, Ayariga also promised to introduce a new database system, different from the National Identification Authority (NIA), to streamline governance.

He concluded by condemning the increasing monetization in electoral processes, advocating for reforms to ensure that all eligible citizens, regardless of financial status, have a fair chance at leadership.
