A battery has been stolen from a tipper truck belonging to the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) in Konongo, Asante Akim Central Municipality.
The truck, part of essential DRIP equipment, was parked at the Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly premises as officials awaited the completion of training for the machine operators. During a routine inspection on Thursday, August 29, 2024, the missing battery was discovered, leading to immediate notification to the local police.
Municipal Chief Executive Robert Yaw Kwaakye has condemned the theft, stating that such actions could significantly impede the government’s development efforts in the region.
He assured the public that the Assembly would enhance surveillance measures to protect the equipment from further theft.
Meanwhile, the Konongo police have initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.
