Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to upgrade Ho Municipality in the Volta Region to metropolitan status by the end of this year. Speaking at the inauguration of a new GH¢10 million office building for the Ho Municipal Assembly on Tuesday, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer stated that “work is far advanced to upgrade Ho to that status, and we expect the Minister of Local Government to announce this as soon as possible.” Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the area’s infrastructure and population qualify it for this upgrade, which would further accelerate development.

Dr. Bawumia lauded the NPP government’s accomplishments in infrastructure over the past eight years, claiming no administration had done better. He cited numerous projects, including roads, schools, hospitals, and recreational facilities, as evidence of NPP’s developmental focus. He urged voters to renew the party’s mandate in the upcoming election to prevent the country from regressing. The Vice President also stressed that the NPP remains committed to equitable development across the nation, noting that no region, including the Volta Region, would be overlooked.

At the same event, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister, praised the newly commissioned office building as a testament to the government’s commitment to improving local governance. Ho Municipal Chief Executive Richard Divine Komla Bosson, also the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Ho Central, urged voters to judge him by his performance and support him for further progress. Paramount Chief of Takla, Togbe Ayim Adzokoto II, commended Dr. Bawumia for his respect for traditional authorities and highlighted the untapped tourism and agricultural potential in Ho, calling on the government to create more job opportunities for the youth.
