The lawyer for New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, says his client’s whereabouts remain unknown hours after he was reportedly picked up by security operatives.
Daniel Martey Addo, Managing Counsel at Nkumah & Associates, disclosed on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen that despite visiting several offices of the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) in Accra, no official confirmation has been given regarding Abronye’s detention.
Mr. Addo recounted that he and his client were initially led by an investigator within the NIB Headquarters to another office, but Abronye was whisked away in a waiting vehicle before they reached the ground floor.
Attempts to trace him at three NIB offices, including the headquarters and the 37 branch, proved futile.
Even the Head of Administration at the NIB Headquarters could not confirm whether Abronye was in custody. Information later suggested he might have been transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, but checks there also yielded nothing.
Abronye’s reported detention follows a police raid at the residence of former NPP Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser, Moses Abor, where he was believed to be hiding.
This development comes just days after Abronye petitioned eight embassies and international organisations seeking political asylum.
In his petition, he alleged escalating political persecution, threats to his life, and abuse of state security powers, citing previous arrests and intimidation as justification for his request.
