Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is set to appear before the Disciplinary Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) today, Monday, April 7, 2025, following remarks she made in the media about the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections.
The summons, part of a broader internal inquiry, seeks to investigate the potential impact of her public comments on the NPP’s image and cohesion ahead of future party activities.
A formal notice was issued on March 24, 2025, jointly signed by Patrick Boamah, Secretary to the Disciplinary Committee, and William Yamoah, the party’s Director of Finance and Administration. The hearing is scheduled to take place at 11:00 a.m. at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, specifically in the main conference room.
According to the letter, Adwoa Safo is expected to come prepared with any supporting documents or witnesses she deems relevant to her case. The party has also granted her the right to appear with legal representation, in line with internal procedures governing disciplinary matters.
A referral letter from the NPP General Secretary, detailing the grounds for the inquiry, has also been attached to the summons for her review.
In its communication, the NPP stressed its commitment to transparency and due process, stating that the disciplinary proceedings are intended to “uphold the integrity of the party and maintain internal discipline.”
“The party encourages full cooperation with the Committee,” the letter read, adding that all key party stakeholders, including the National Chairman, the General Secretary, and the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, have been formally copied in the correspondence.
The development comes at a critical time for the NPP as it reviews its electoral strategy and internal cohesion following a fiercely contested 2024 general election.
