Head coach of the Ghana national football team, Otto Addo, is expected to announce his squad in the coming days as the team intensifies preparations for upcoming international friendlies against Austria national football team and Germany national football team later this month.
The friendlies form part of Ghana’s build-up toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will provide the technical team with a valuable opportunity to assess players and refine tactical plans ahead of the tournament.
The Black Stars will first take on Austria on March 27 at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna, with kickoff scheduled for 17:00 GMT. The encounter is expected to serve as an early test for the squad as the coaching staff evaluates form, chemistry and depth within the team.
Following the clash in Austria, Ghana will travel to Stuttgart to face four-time world champions Germany on March 30. The European powerhouse, who famously lifted the trophy at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, are widely expected to provide a stern challenge for Addo’s side.
Beyond the two European friendlies, Ghana’s preparation schedule includes further international matches, including fixtures against the Mexico national football team in May and the Wales national football team on June 2, which will serve as the team’s final warm-up before the global showpiece begins.
Ghana will be making their fifth appearance at the tournament and have been drawn in Group L alongside the Panama national football team, England national football team and Croatia national football team.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England on June 23. Their final group match will come against Croatia on June 27.
After disappointing early exits at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Ghana will be hoping to make a stronger impact this time around as they aim to progress beyond the group stage and rekindle confidence among supporters.
