Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, Member of Parliament for Asante Akim Central, has criticized Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine over his recent public comments regarding the prosecution of Kwabena Adu Boahene, former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng.
The MP questioned the necessity of the Attorney General’s press conference, arguing that such statements should be left to the courts to decide.
Speaking on ABC News GH on Tuesday, Anyimadu-Antwi stated, “The minority will be the last to speak against any prosecution. We are just speaking against the manner in which it is done. For a whole Attorney General to go to the public and say this person and the other has done this, when he knows he is not the Judge, and that the final verdict does not rest with him but with the court, is concerning.”
He further questioned the motive behind the Attorney General’s public pronouncement, saying, “I wonder what the press conference is seeking to achieve. That’s my difficulty—being transparent.”
