The Divisional Executives Council of the Public Services Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) Ghana, National Identification Authority (NIA) Division, has declared an industrial strike effective today, October 7.
The decision comes after the aggrieved workers issued a notice on Sunday, October 6, citing their employer’s failure to implement a newly approved scheme of service as the catalyst for this action.
They express their disappointment and resolve, stating that the strike will continue until the agreed scheme of service is fully operationalized.
The workers’ patience has worn thin after what they describe as exhaustive efforts and repeated demands for compliance. They firmly assert that their plight can no longer be ignored, emphasizing the need for immediate action to address their concerns.
“After exhaustive patience and repeated demands, we regret to inform you that your unacceptable failure to operationalise the newly approved Scheme of Service (SoS) has compelled us to take this decisive action beginning Monday, October 7, 2024.”
