Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has described the Attorney-General’s directive to investigate illegal mining allegations against Yamine and Abanga as a political gimmick.
He questioned the timing of the directive, suggesting it lacks genuine intent and reflects the government’s inconsistent stance on galamsey.
Acquah believes politicizing such investigations undermines the credibility of the national fight against illegal mining.
He warned that the move risks turning a serious issue into a public distraction rather than a solution-driven effort.
He called for a more sincere and impartial approach by the Attorney-General and all investigative bodies involved.
