The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has initiated an internal investigation into a policewoman following allegations that she kicked a complainant’s mobile phone during a confrontation at the Akomadan Police Station.
This follows a viral video circulating on social media that appears to show a heated exchange between the complainant and the officer at the station, drawing widespread public attention and criticism.
In a statement released on July 5, the Command confirmed it had become aware of the footage and described the incident as one involving alleged misconduct by the officer in question.

Authorities indicated that the officer has since been identified, with a formal probe underway to establish the full circumstances leading to the confrontation, which is reported to have occurred on July 3, 2026.
“The Police officer involved has been identified and investigation has commenced to establish the full facts and circumstances surrounding the incident,” the statement noted.
The Command further assured the public that the outcome of the investigation would guide the appropriate disciplinary measures, reaffirming its commitment to discipline, accountability, and professionalism within the service. It added that updates would be communicated as the process unfolds.
Accounts from the complainant suggest that tensions began when he visited the station to file an official complaint and allegedly found the officer stationed at the front desk focused on her mobile phone instead of attending to him. He stated that he started recording the interaction after feeling ignored.
He further alleged that the officer reacted negatively upon realizing she was being filmed and instructed him to stop recording. According to him, the situation escalated when the officer allegedly kicked his phone to the ground and threatened to strike him with a stone.
The video has since triggered public debate, with many social media users calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into the officer’s conduct and urging the Ghana Police Service to reinforce professional standards in its dealings with the public.
