A group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) loyalists in the Ashanti Region has called on the police to investigate alleged looting incidents at the STC bus terminals in Oforikrom and Adum.
The group, led by Alhaji Nje, a member of the Ashanti Regional Inter-Party and Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Committee, claims several essential items, including power plants and car tyres, are unaccounted for.
Acting on a tip-off from an informant, the group visited the terminals to verify the claims and alerted the police.
According to Alhaji Nje, at the Oforikrom terminal, they were told by the administrator that the missing power plant had been sent for repairs.
However, an engineer at the terminal contradicted this, revealing that someone had presented a receipt indicating the plant had been sold.
“There is a plant there, and when we got there, the plant was not there, and they have burnt three brand new buses. It is very shocking, and so we told the police to investigate this,” Alhaji Nje said.
The alleged looting cases have been reported to the Oforikrom and Adum police stations for further investigation.
Alhaji Nje added that background checks and information gathering are ongoing, and the findings will be forwarded to the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team for further action.
“We are also compiling our report to present it to the Operation Recover All Loot team,” he stated. As investigations unfold, the group remains committed to ensuring accountability and safeguarding public resources.
