George Agyei Frempong, the Assemblyman for the Oguaa electoral area in the New Juaben South municipality, tragically lost his life on Saturday afternoon due to electrocution while attending to a streetlight in his community.
In his late thirties, Agyei Frempong was attempting to fix the streetlight when he suffered a fatal shock.
Witnesses report that he, not being a trained electrician, fell from the electricity pole after the incident, highlighting the dangers of such maintenance work.
Immediate efforts were made by nearby residents to rush Agyei Frempong to the Eastern Regional Hospital for treatment; however, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the facility.
Known as a skilled carpenter, Agyei Frempong had recently been elected as the assembly member for his electoral area in the last district assembly elections, demonstrating his commitment to serving his community even in the face of personal risk.
His untimely passing has left the local community in shock, mourning the loss of a dedicated leader.
