Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has firmly defended the Vice President against any corruption allegations.
In his address during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto launch in Takoradi, Prempeh emphasized that Bawumia has never been accused or investigated for corruption, contrasting this with allegations faced by the opposition’s John Mahama, who was investigated in connection with an Airbus case during his presidency.
Prempeh’s remarks come as the NPP intensifies its campaign efforts, aiming to bolster Bawumia’s reputation and underscore the party’s commitment to transparency and progress.
The manifesto launch highlighted key achievements and future goals of the NPP, with a focus on digitization and job creation.
Prempeh praised the advancements made since 2017, including the overhaul of the national ID system, mobile interoperability, and the introduction of drones for medical supply distribution.
He argued that these measures have significantly enhanced access to government services, spurred e-commerce, and created numerous jobs for Ghanaians.
The NPP’s commitment to furthering these initiatives was underscored at the launch, attended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Bawumia, and other party leaders.
As the NPP gears up for the 2024 election, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for the Bawumia campaign, emphasized the party’s track record of creating 2.1 million jobs.
He framed the upcoming election as a critical choice between the NPP’s proven job creation record and the promises of their rivals. Aboagye called on voters to choose based on the NPP’s achievements, setting the stage for a highly competitive race.
