Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has maintained a commanding lead in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) race for the 2026 presidential primaries, according to the latest delegates poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics.
The poll, conducted between December 19 and 22, 2025, sampled 3,521 NPP delegates across all 16 regions using Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI), with a 99 per cent confidence level and a margin of error of ±2.12 per cent .
Under the Likely Voters Model, Dr Bawumia secured 45 per cent support, ahead of former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, who polled 31 per cent. Dr Bryan Acheampong followed distantly with 3 per cent, while 11 per cent of respondents declined to disclose their choice and 9 per cent remained undecided .

Results from the Committed Voters Model show an even stronger position for the Vice President, with 56 per cent backing Dr Bawumia against 39 per cent for Mr Agyapong, reinforcing his front-runner status within the party .

Comparative analysis between November and December 2025 indicates a marginal rise in Dr Bawumia’s support from 43 to 45 per cent, while Kennedy Agyapong recorded the most significant growth, jumping from 18 to 31 per cent over the same period. Meanwhile, the proportion of undecided delegates dropped sharply from 19 to 9 per cent, suggesting the race is gradually crystallising .
The poll also reveals strong optimism about party cohesion, with 89 per cent of respondents expressing confidence that the NPP would remain united after the internal campaign, an improvement from November figures .

On the broader strategic question of whether presenting a candidate for a second time would improve the party’s chances in the 2028 general election, 59 per cent of delegates agreed, 27 per cent were neutral and 14 per cent disagreed. Support for this view was particularly strong among delegates inclined towards Dr Bawumia .
Regionally, Dr Bawumia led in the majority of regions, recording especially high support in the Northern and Upper East Regions, while Kennedy Agyapong showed relative strength in parts of Ashanti, Central and Western North Regions .
In terms of favourability, Dr Bawumia maintained the highest net favourability rating at 92 per cent, unchanged from November. Kennedy Agyapong followed with 85 per cent, while other contenders, including Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum and Dr Bryan Acheampong, posted modest gains .
The survey was led by Mr Mussa K. Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, who described the findings as a clear indication that “the contest is increasingly shaping into a two-horse race, with Dr Bawumia firmly in front but Kennedy Agyapong gaining momentum.”
As the NPP inches closer to its 2026 presidential primaries, the poll suggests that while Dr Bawumia remains the candidate to beat, the dynamics of the race are still evolving, with shifting allegiances and declining indecision among party delegates .
