Mrs. Mavis Hawa Koomson, the Minister for Fisheries and Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, has taken on Kennedy Agyapong, urging him to halt what she refers to as his “pretence” regarding the benefits he has enjoyed through the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the government.
Speaking at a meeting with delegates in the Central Region ahead of the NPP’s Presidential Primary, Hawa Koomson pointedly confronted Mr. Agyapong, an aspirant in the November 4 polls alleging that he has significantly benefited from the NPP, both during the presidencies of John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Specifically, she alleged that Agyapong secured contracts worth millions of cedis and secured influential board chair positions, not only for himself at the Ghana National Gas Company but also for his wife at the Ghana Shippers Council.
The Minister for Fisheries raised concerns about Agyapong’s alleged lack of gratitude towards the party that has played a pivotal role in his political and financial success. She questioned his motivations for consistently criticizing the Akufo-Addo administration, despite the apparent benefits he and his family have derived from the NPP and the government.

Mrs. Koomson also urged the delegates to vote Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as NPP Flagbearer,
