The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has officially appointed Dr. Bernice Makafui Brempong as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 29, 2025. She takes over from Yofi Grant, whose tenure ended on December 30, 2024.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, January 29, GIPC described Dr. Brempong as a results-driven leader with an impressive track record in business development, healthcare, and strategic partnerships.
Despite her roots in pharmacy, Dr. Brempong has emerged as a formidable force in Ghana’s investment landscape. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Ghana, a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship from University College London, and a Doctor of Pharmacy from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Beyond academia, she has built and led thriving businesses across pharmaceutical, healthcare, and commodity sectors. Before assuming her new role, she was the CEO of Makhealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and held executive positions at Synergy Commodities Ltd. and D-Amphora Ltd.
Dr. Brempong’s appointment signals a shift in strategy, with a greater emphasis on leveraging health-related investments to drive Ghana’s economic growth. She has pledged to collaborate with stakeholders to position Ghana as a prime destination for global investment.
