The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has revealed that government is prepared to facilitate overseas medical treatment for Sandra Baafi Boateng, a victim of the stampede that occurred during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise, should doctors recommend such a step.

Providing an update on the floor of Parliament on Monday, March 9, the minister assured lawmakers that the Ministry of Health is closely monitoring Ms Baafi Boateng’s condition and remains committed to ensuring she receives the best possible care.

“I wish to assure this Honourable House that the Ministry of Health has remained actively engaged with Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to ensure that Ms Sandra Baafi Boateng receives the requisite specialist care and that every necessary step is being taken to expedite her treatment and recovery,” he said.

Ms Baafi Boateng sustained severe injuries during the recruitment exercise held on November 12, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. She was initially admitted to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where she received inpatient care under specialist supervision.

According to the minister, the government has taken full responsibility for her medical expenses since the incident, in an effort to ease the financial burden on her and her family.

He further disclosed that Ms Baafi Boateng was transferred to the 37 Military Hospital on February 26, 2026, where she is currently undergoing further treatment under a multidisciplinary team of specialists.

Her care regimen includes rehabilitation and other forms of social support aimed at improving her recovery.

Mr Akandoh stressed that the government is prepared to explore both local and international medical options if necessary to ensure she receives optimal treatment.

Sandra Baafi Boateng has remained bedridden since the incident during the 2025/2026 enlistment exercise.
