Dennis Miracles Aboagye, born on February 27, 1985, stands as one of the young and promising figures in Ghana’s political space. He possesses a blend of youthful vigor and an extinct strategically communicative insight, which has enabled him carve out his way in this space.
Currently serving as a Presidential Staffer responsible for Local Government and Decentralization, Dennis also holds the position of Executive Secretary for the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralization.
Early Life and Education
Growing up as the only child of his parents in Larteh Akuapem, a serene town in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Dennis’s early life was shaped by a close-knit community and strong educational values.
His academic journey began at Larteh Presby Primary School and continued at Swedru International School (SWIS), where he completed his basic education. Dennis further honed his academic prowess at Okuapeman School, after which he pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at the University of Ghana.
His thirst for knowledge led him to earn a Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, and he is also a Chartered Marketer with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).
Public Service and Political Journey
Dennis’s political journey is deeply intertwined with the New Patriotic Party (NPP). His grassroots involvement began as an executive at the polling station level, eventually becoming the Constituency Youth Organizer for Akropong.
His organizational skills and strategic acumen shone through as he managed the NPP’s campaign in Akropong for the 2008, 2012, and 2016 elections, securing vital victories.
Prior to his current role, he served as the Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem North, an appointment made by President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo.
Dennis’s influence extends beyond his party. As a leading communicator for both the government and the NPP, he shapes narratives and strategies on multiple levels.
His role as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralization places him at the heart of policy formulation, driving the agenda of deepening decentralization across the nation. His input is critical in crafting the policies that aim to enhance local governance and development in Ghana.
In this core political sphere, he serves on several Committees for the Party at the Regional and National levels assisting in Strategy formulation and execution.
Dennis served as a Special Aide to the Member of Parliament for Akropong, Hon. William Ofori Boafo between 2007 – 2013. He was appointed as a Spokesperson for the Vice-President, H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the 2023 Presidential Primaries for the New Patriotic Party.
He is currently serving as the Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 election campaign. In this position, he co-ordinates and manage branding, mainstream media, social media and community engagement for Team Bawumia with the key objective of ensuring the 2024 campaign message gets to the right audience effectively and efficiently.
Following this role, he has facilitated major party programs including the party’s manifesto launch on 18th August, 2024 and the media engagement held by the Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on August 25th, 2024.
Beyond Politics
Before his full immersion into politics, Dennis built a career in sales and marketing, specializing in fast-moving consumer goods and financial services.
His expertise in the pension industry saw him rise from client relations executive to unit head in charge of client relations. His role as Eastern Regional Director of Youth Enterprises and Skills Development Centre (YESDEC), a World Bank-funded project, underscored his commitment to job creation and economic empowerment.
