Ghana’s Black Stars will face one of world football’s traditional powerhouses after confirming an international friendly against Germany as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Ghana Football Association has announced that the fixture will take place in Stuttgart on Monday, March 30, with Otto Addo’s side set to test themselves against the four-time world champions on German soil. The match is viewed as a crucial step in Ghana’s build-up to the tournament, offering the technical team a chance to assess the squad against elite opposition.
Ghana are preparing for a challenging World Cup campaign after being drawn into Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. With the tournament to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, the Black Stars will be required to navigate a demanding schedule against high-calibre opponents.
The Germany friendly is expected to provide valuable insight into areas that need improvement, especially after Ghana’s early exits at the 2014 and 2022 World Cups. The coaching staff will be keen to use the encounter to fine-tune tactics, test player combinations and build confidence ahead of the global showpiece.
Ghana will open their World Cup campaign on June 17 in Toronto against Panama, before facing England in Boston on June 23. The group stage concludes with a meeting against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.
The 2026 edition will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance at the World Cup, following previous outings in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022. Memories of the historic quarter-final run in South Africa in 2010 remain a source of inspiration as the current squad aims to make a strong impression on the world stage once again.
