The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has countered the allegations made by former President John Dramani Mahama regarding the state of Ghana’s cocoa industry.
During a recent campaign rally in the Western North Region, Mr. Mahama claimed that the sector was at risk of collapsing under the current Akufo-Addo administration.
However, COCOBOD has, in a press release issued on April 27, rejected these assertions, citing that such comments are both inaccurate and cast a bad light on the cocoa sector.
“Such statements are misleading and detrimental to a vital sector like cocoa, which forms the foundation of Ghana’s economy. We, therefore, wish to use the opportunity to make some clarifications and also set the records straight.”
