The Electoral Commission of Ghana has ramped up its voter education efforts ahead of the crucial December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.
A second pre-election report released by the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) highlights significant progress in educating the electorate across the country.
According to CODEO, the number of constituencies with reported voter education activities by the EC rose from 12% in their maiden report to 26% during the period of October 26 to November 8, 2024.
Observers noted increased engagement through posters, community and regular radio, as well as peace rallies and street announcements.
Posters, for instance, were used in 57% of cases during this period, compared to 41% previously.
Similarly, community radio and regular radio each recorded a 50% usage rate, showing notable improvement.
Despite these strides, there is still more work to be done to ensure that all eligible voters are adequately informed about the voting process and their civic responsibilities.
