Chairman of the National Economic Dialogue, Dr. Ishmael Yamson, has declared that President John Dramani Mahama is the only leader capable of resetting Ghana’s economy and steering the country toward sustainable growth.
Speaking at the opening of the dialogue on Monday, March 3, 2025, Dr. Yamson emphasized the urgent need for transformative leadership to address the nation’s economic challenges.
He attributed Ghana’s struggles to years of economic mismanagement and corruption, stressing that a decisive and visionary leader is needed to chart a new path.
“Someone must reset Ghana, and it can only be you [John Dramani Mahama]. Everywhere in the world that economic transformation has taken place, only one individual has led the charge, and the Lord has blessed you with the wisdom to take on that task,” he stated.
Dr. Yamson underscored that achieving economic recovery requires a leader willing to make tough decisions, implement structural reforms, and restore confidence in governance.
He urged President Mahama to take bold steps to eliminate inefficiencies that have stalled national development.
He further called for a strong commitment to tackling corruption, insisting that it remains one of the biggest threats to economic stability.
“It is time to liberate Ghana from economic mismanagement and corruption, to reset Ghana and put it on the path of sustainable and resilient growth,” Dr. Yamson declared.
The National Economic Dialogue, themed “Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together,” is expected to produce policy recommendations aimed at revitalizing the economy and ensuring long-term development.
