The Minister for Transport, Joseph Nikpe Bukari, has disclosed that the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has successfully cleared a backlog of more than 440,000 unprinted driver’s licence cards.
According to him, the challenge had persisted up to December 2024 but has now been fully resolved.
“As at December 2024, the DVLA had a backlog of 440,000 unprinted driver licences cards. Currently, all those backlog cards have been printed and dispatched to the various DVLA offices for collection,” the Minister said.
He explained that this marks a major step forward in improving service delivery at the DVLA.
He further revealed that in addition to clearing the backlog, 26,045 new cards are currently undergoing the final lamination process and will soon be distributed.
“A total of 26,045 cards are currently undergoing lamination and will be delivered shortly,” Mr. Bukari stated.
