A devastating accident on the Adukrom-Somanya road has left several students from Ben Kunadu SDA Basic School in Asante Akyem feared dead after their bus somersaulted and landed on its side.
The tragic incident occurred on the Aseseeso stretch, where the bus, carrying 43 children and 19 adults on an excursion to Akosombo, reportedly lost control while descending a hill.
Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Awatey, who happened to be passing by, immediately joined the rescue efforts, helping to transport injured students to the Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital.
Emergency response teams, including the Police, Fire Service, and Ambulance Service, have arrived at the scene to assist in rescue operations and recover trapped victims.
According to ABC News’ Eastern Regional Correspondent, Osei Marfo, at least one fatality has been confirmed so far. Authorities continue to assess the situation as investigations into the cause of the crash unfold.
