Abraham Amaliba, the Director in charge of Conflict Resolution for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has raised serious concerns about the election results recall process following the 2024 general elections.
He accused the Electoral Commission (EC) and other state institutions of working together to deprive the NDC of its rightful 2/3 majority in Parliament.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, Mr. Amaliba vehemently opposed the EC’s involvement in the re-collation of results, emphasizing that the Commission’s role should end once the results are declared.
“The EC, together with other state institutions, are colluding to deny the NDC the majority,” Amaliba asserted.
He made it clear that the NDC would not accept the results following the re-collation process and would pursue legal action instead.
“Once collation is done and results are declared, the EC has no role to play any longer. All other issues should be taken to court,” Amaliba continued. “The answer is not to re-collate the results, the answer is to proceed to court. So, the NDC will not accept these results.”
Amaliba’s statements reflect the NDC’s growing dissatisfaction with the electoral process and the outcome of the recollation exercise.
His comments signal the party’s intent to challenge the results through legal channels in a bid to secure the 2/3 majority they believe they are rightfully owed.
The situation remains tense as the party continues to dispute the legitimacy of the EC’s actions and the re-collation of the results.
