The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced the opening of nominations for the upcoming elections to elect Regional Representatives to the Council of State.
In a press release issued on January 22, 2025, the Commission outlined that the elections will be conducted in accordance with Article 89 of the 1992 Constitution.
Qualified candidates are required to submit their completed nomination forms to the Regional Director of their respective regions.
Submissions will be accepted from Tuesday, January 28, to Friday, January 31, 2025, during designated hours.
Nomination requirements include two copies of a recent bust-sized photograph with a red background, as well as support from 20 registered voters in the candidate’s region.
Each candidate must also be proposed and seconded by two registered voters. The Commission has emphasized that all forms must be submitted in triplicate and can be downloaded from its official website, www.ec.gov.gh.
The elections are scheduled to take place in all regional capitals on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at venues to be announced by the Commission.
