The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled a rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election for Tuesday, December 30, 2025, following a directive from the Tamale High Court.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the EC said the decision comes after the High Court’s ruling on November 24, 2025, which ordered a fresh election within 30 days. The directive followed legal challenges arising from the 2024 Parliamentary Election in the constituency.

According to the statement signed by Mr. Fred Tetteh, Deputy Director at the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Department, the EC received an official notification from Parliament on December 9, 2025, indicating that the Kpandai seat had been declared vacant. Parliament formally informed the Commission of a vacancy in its membership, paving the way for the rerun.
The EC clarified that the December 30 rerun will involve only the three candidates who contested the original 2024 Parliamentary Election in the constituency.
“The rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election will be conducted for only the three candidates who contested the 2024 Parliamentary Election in the said Constituency,” the statement said.
The countdown is on, and all eyes will be on Kpandai on December 30, as residents return to the polls. Although, three candidates are contesting, the rerun will ultimately settle the contest between the NDC Parliamentary candidate Daniel Nsala Wakpal and the embattled MP Mathew Nyindam.
