The Electoral Commission (EC) is set to appear before Parliament on Friday, July 19, 2024, to provide a comprehensive briefing on the preparations for the upcoming 2024 General Elections.
This session, to be held in the parliamentary chamber, comes as a response to requests from members of Parliament eagerness to understand the EC’s level of preparedness for the December 7 elections, which will determine the country’s next presidential and parliamentary representatives.
Announcing the meeting during Thursday’s parliamentary proceedings, Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Asiamah Amoako emphasized the importance of the briefing.
“We will be meeting the Electoral Commission, they are going to be here at our instance, we have invited them to come and brief us on the preparations they have made so far towards the 2024 elections,” Amoako stated.
He encouraged members to bring forward any pertinent issues related to the EC, assuring that the session would be a respectful enquiry rather than a confrontational debate.
