The Ministry of the Interior has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.
In a statement signed by Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak on March 22, the ministry explained that since Eid-ul-Fitr falls on Sunday, March 30, an Executive Instrument (E.I.) has been issued to designate the following two days as public holidays.
President John Dramani Mahama, who earlier announced the move, emphasized that it aligns with existing protocols and recognizes the contributions of the Muslim community to national development.
The declaration also fulfills a campaign promise by the president to extend official recognition of key religious celebrations.
The government has urged the public to observe the holidays peacefully and in the spirit of unity.
