John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that the Speaker of Parliament’s decision to declare four seats vacant is a divine signal of the NDC’s impending triumph in the December 2024 elections.
Speaking to supporters at a rally in Ningo-Prampram on Thursday, Mahama pointed to the approval of the motion by Speaker Alban Bagbin as a pivotal moment in the party’s journey to electoral victory.
The motion, led by former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, argued that four MPs, including three from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had forfeited their parliamentary positions by deciding to run as independent candidates.
This development shifts the balance of power in Parliament, turning the NPP majority into a minority.
“If the report I am hearing is true… something historic has just happened,” he stated, adding that the event is a sign from God for the NDC’s success.
However, Mahama urged his supporters to remain focused, reminding them that while the declaration of vacant seats is encouraging, the party must not relent in its efforts to win at the polls.
“God is showing a sign of what is going to happen, but we have to make it a reality on 7th December 2024,” he said.
