Janet Nabla, founder of the People’s National Party (PNP), has challenged the Electoral Commission (EC), claiming that influential figures are manipulating the election process.

“I’m the anointed and no one can touch me,” Nabla asserted, alleging that her disqualification stems from fear among those in power. She warned that those behind the EC’s decisions would face dire consequences come December’s polls.

“No one uses their hands to touch me and go away with it. I am the anointed. So when you touch me, you are going to face the consequences. Disgrace will follow you,” she declared emphatically.

In her interview with ABC in the Morning on September 24, 2024, Nabla expressed her frustration regarding the balloting process and disqualification, stating that she has instructed her lawyers to file for legal redress.

“We want to get back into the ballot paper,” she stated, emphasizing her intention to challenge the validity of the 13 candidates deemed qualified by the EC.

Nabla asserted that many of these candidates failed to meet essential endorsement requirements, hinting at possible fraudulent practices within the nomination process.

The controversy escalated as Nabla contested the EC’s claims regarding her Vice Presidential Candidate’s nomination.

She demanded transparency, challenging the EC to provide evidence of the alleged failure to sign necessary forms.

“If they are able to show us, I will not even contest anymore,” she stated, labeling the EC’s accusations as lies aimed at justifying her dismissal.

Nabla’s grievances have sparked debates over the integrity of the electoral process, with many questioning the motives behind her exclusion.

In light of her disqualification and those of other prominent candidates, including Bernard Mornah and Dr. Samuel Sampong Ankrah, Nabla’s legal team is preparing to file an injunction at the Supreme Court to halt the elections.

Meanwhile, the EC has affirmed the approval of 13 candidates, maintaining that the nomination process was conducted fairly and transparently.
