The Electoral Commission’s IT consultant, Yaw Ofori Adjei, has declared that the voter register is robust and ready for the 2024 elections.
“The register that we have all strived hard to correct is currently as clean as it will ever get. And it is robust and ready for the 2024 election,” he stated during the live broadcast of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on October 1, 2024.
This assurance comes amid ongoing discussions about discrepancies within the voter register.
The IPAC meeting, which includes all political candidates for the December 7 general elections, is taking place at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership requested that the meeting be broadcast live, believing it would enhance the transparency and credibility of the electoral process.
Dr. Omane Boamah, the Director of IT and Elections for the NDC, emphasized the meeting’s importance in addressing alleged discrepancies and improving the integrity of the upcoming polls.
Despite the NDC’s concerns and calls for a forensic audit of the electoral roll, the Electoral Commission has denied these allegations, asserting that corrective measures are already underway.
The NDC previously organized a nationwide protest on September 17 to demand urgent action to resolve the identified discrepancies, further intensifying the dialogue around electoral integrity in the lead-up to the elections.
