President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo as the Acting Commissioner of the Gaming Commission of Ghana, effective January 22, 2025.
The appointment follows constitutional and legal provisions, specifically Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 67 of the Gaming Act, 2006 (Act 721).
This temporary position is pending further advice from the governing board of the Gaming Commission in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
Mr. Quainoo has been granted 14 days from receiving his appointment letter, signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, to confirm his acceptance of the role.
The Gaming Commission is responsible for overseeing and regulating the gaming industry in Ghana, including casinos, sports betting, and lotteries.
President Mahama expressed his best wishes to Mr. Quainoo in this pivotal role, emphasizing the importance of the position in regulating the gaming sector.
