Empowerment Through Education (ETE) is set to host its maiden Change Makers Youth Empowerment Conference on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. GMT at the Mamprobi Neighbourhood Centre.

The conference will run under the theme: “Ignite Purpose – Discover your calling, fuel your passion, and impact your world.”

The event comes at a time when Ghana’s youth face daunting challenges. Rising unemployment, limited access to quality education, and increasing exposure to substance abuse and crime continue to derail the potential of many young people.

According to the Ghana Statistical Service, youth unemployment among those aged 15–24 stands at 32.8 percent, while many more remain underemployed and ill-equipped for the 21st-century job market. Issues such as drug abuse, cybercrime, and the pursuit of quick wealth further threaten the promise of Ghana’s next generation.

It is against this backdrop that ETE is convening the Change Makers Conference to serve as a high-impact empowerment platform for young Ghanaians. The initiative seeks to equip participants with purpose, vision, and practical tools to drive leadership and transformation in their communities.

Organizers describe the conference as “a spark”—one that will awaken the greatness within every young person, helping them uncover their potential, align with their passion, and use their skills to make meaningful contributions to society.

The conference will target Junior High School (JHS), Senior High School (SHS), and tertiary-level students, as well as educators, community leaders, and key stakeholders who play vital roles in shaping Ghana’s future.

The program through mentorship, dialogue, and knowledge sharing, is aimed at nurturing confident, socially conscious youth prepared to address pressing societal challenges in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2030.

The event will feature distinguished speakers, including Pastor Michael Affum Asa of SOMI Tema Council; Mrs. Beatrice Senadju Boateng, Broadcast Journalist and Founder of Largesse Africa Inc.; Mrs. Christiana Ashitey, Teacher at Ridge Church School; and Mr. Bernard Quarm, Ambassador and Country Director of Maxwell/Equip.

Highlights of the Change Makers Conference will include keynote addresses, career guidance sessions, and an engaging panel discussion featuring thought leaders and changemakers across different fields. Panelists will include, but are not limited to Andy Oppong Dankyi, Dream Coach, Ms. Mariam Majeed, a Brand and Marketing Strategy Consultant; Emmaryn Leuzzi, Director and Climate Sociologist; Stanley Bonney, Lead Campaigner for the Center for Opportunities and Rural Development; and Patience Mawufemor Nuworsu, Director of Patlife Foundation.

Participants will also engage in interactive sessions covering urgent topics such as unemployment, mental health, digital literacy, drug abuse, civic engagement, leadership, and climate action. Real-life storytelling and collaborative solution-building exercises will further encourage youth to find their voice and take ownership of their personal and national development.

Drawing inspiration from global movements like the United Nations Youth Assembly and local platforms such as TEDx, the conference emphasizes that young people must not only be present at the table but must also speak, act, and lead. It is positioned as more than just an event—it is a movement, a call to action for youth to rise above limitations and become part of the solution.
