Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has been released from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after meeting revised bail conditions.
The musician’s initial bail of GH₵10 million was slashed to GH₵5 million, with two sureties, paving the way for his release. He is also required to report to EOCO three times a week as investigations proceed.
Shatta Wale’s release comes in connection with an ongoing probe into the acquisition of a Lamborghini Urus.
According to EOCO, the artiste failed to provide credible proof of legitimate ownership of the vehicle.
The matter, which has generated intense public interest, has been under legal scrutiny for days, with the latest development offering temporary relief for the musician as the investigation continues.
In a statement dated Thursday, August 21, 2025, EOCO explained that Shatta Wale claimed to have purchased the vehicle “from the Street” through an individual identified only as “ZAK” via WhatsApp, a person he could not properly identify or contact again.
The Office further revealed that the only document presented by Shatta Wale was a customs declaration form bearing the name Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving a prison term, with no sales receipt or transfer papers to establish ownership.
