The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has confirmed the seizure of a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale at his Trassaco Valley Phase 1 residence.
The joint operation, conducted by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) in June 2025, followed a 2023 request from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The vehicle, according to authorities, was linked to criminal proceeds belonging to Nana Kwabena Amuah—a Ghanaian serving an 86-month prison sentence in the U.S. for multiple financial crimes.
Officials say the luxury vehicle was traced to Shatta Wale, and EOCO’s search and seizure were carried out lawfully and without incident.
The agency noted that the officers acted professionally and civilly throughout the process.
Shatta Wale reportedly pleaded with the officers to keep the incident out of the public eye, explaining that the Lamborghini was central to his brand and public image.
Nonetheless, he was permitted to voluntarily hand over the vehicle, which is currently in EOCO custody.
EOCO emphasized that SARU operatives being armed is standard protocol for such operations.
A formal Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) request is anticipated from the FBI and DOJ to the Government of Ghana to repatriate the vehicle as part of efforts to recover a $4.7 million restitution imposed on Amuah.
Meanwhile, Shatta Wale and a former senior officer of the National Signals Bureau have been named persons of interest in the ongoing probe.
EOCO stated that both individuals will be invited to assist with investigations, and a final report may be shared with U.S. authorities under international cooperation protocols.
