A fatal road traffic collision on the Kumasi–Accra Highway has claimed the lives of three persons and left 20 others injured following a crash at Odumasi Ohene Nkwanta near the Rider Steel and Iron Company in the early hours of Monday, May 11, 2026.
The accident involved a Mitsubishi Outlander with registration number DV G8180 and a Benz Sprinter minibus with registration number GE 6024-22.

According to reports, the rescue team received a distress call at about 07:55hrs and quickly rushed to the scene to begin emergency operations. By the time the crew arrived, 12 victims had already been rescued by bystanders, while firefighters successfully rescued the remaining eight trapped passengers from the wreckage.

The injured victims were transported to the Hope Care Hospital, Asante Akim Central Municipal Hospital, and RIS Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Ambulance GV 589-20, together with other vehicles, assisted in conveying the victims to the various health facilities.
Both vehicles involved in the collision sustained extensive damage.
The bodies of the deceased were retrieved from the scene and handed over to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service for further investigations and necessary action.
Authorities say investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
The rescue operation was led by LFM Tenkorang, whose team was commended for their swift response and professionalism during the emergency.
