The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has ordered the immediate recall of Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte (Tetra Pak – 250ml & Canned – 330ml Petillante) from the Ghanaian market, citing serious health and safety concerns.
In a statement issued on March 18, 2025, the FDA stated that the products are unregistered and violate Sections 97, 98, and 103 of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851).
It warned that the packaging of these alcoholic beverages is deceptive and could lead to accidental alcohol ingestion by children.
The FDA has urged consumers to avoid purchasing or consuming the product and directed retailers and wholesalers to stop sales immediately.
It further instructed that all stock be returned to the nearest outlets of Cave and Garden Ghana Limited or FDA offices nationwide. The importer has been sanctioned, and regulatory measures are being enforced to prevent future violations.
The FDA reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and encouraged the public to report any instances of continued sale of the recalled products through its official channels.
