The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has raised concerns over what he described as attempts by some within the party to negotiate with individuals facing possible prosecution by the government.
Speaking at the 5th Annual General Conference of NDC lawyers, he cautioned that such moves risk undermining the party’s anti-corruption stance.
While Mr. Kwetey did not disclose the names of those allegedly involved, he stressed that efforts to cut deals with persons under investigation erode public confidence in the NDC’s commitment to accountability.
His remarks reflect growing sensitivity around the party’s drive to position itself as uncompromising in the fight against corruption.
The warning comes at a time when the NDC has renewed its pledge to recover assets allegedly lost to corrupt practices through its “Operation Recover All Loots” initiative.
The program seeks to prosecute individuals found culpable, with investigations into some officials of the former administration already underway. Mr. Kwetey’s reminder to party members underscores the importance of internal discipline as the NDC pursues its accountability agenda.
