Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister-designate, has today appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting as part of the process to confirm his appointment.
Forson’s nomination by President John Dramani Mahama is a significant step in preparing him to assume the key role in managing the country’s finances.
During the session, the committee is expected to assess his qualifications and suitability for the position.
The hearing is being closely watched as Forson has a wealth of experience in finance, having previously served in various capacities, including as Deputy Finance Minister.
Speaking during the vetting, he has pledged to work to avoid crisis we faced in 2022.
In addition to Forson’s vetting, other nominees for key positions in the Mahama administration are also undergoing scrutiny.
John Abdulai Jinapor, nominated as Minister-designate for Energy, and Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, nominated as Attorney General and Minister for Justice-designate, are both scheduled for their own vetting hearings later today.
