The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, is set to present the 2025 Budget to Parliament on March 10, pending approval by the House.
This follows a proposal from the Finance Ministry in accordance with the country’s Financial Administration Act, which mandates that the budget be presented before March 31, 2025.
Ahead of the main budget presentation, Parliament in January approved an Expenditure in Advance of Appropriation, allocating GH₵68.1 billion to cover government operations for the first three months of the John Mahama administration.
This temporary budget ensures continuity in governance while allowing the Finance Ministry to finalize its full economic plan.
The Finance Ministry has already issued broad spending guidelines to various ministries, instructing them to align their financial plans with national priorities.
A source told JOYBUSINESS that ministers have been asked to exercise prudence in their spending proposals, ensuring that resources are directed toward the most critical programmes for 2025.
