A destructive fire has ravaged over 30 shops at the Race Course Market in Kumasi, leaving traders counting their losses.
The blaze, which started around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, primarily destroyed metal containers and wooden shops, affecting traders dealing in watermelons, grapes, and cold store operations.
The Ghana Fire Service responded swiftly, deploying three fire engines to contain the flames and prevent further damage.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the fire has left many traders devastated, with their livelihoods completely destroyed.
Naomi Serwaa, the leader of the Watermelon Sellers Association, has called on the government and philanthropists to step in and provide assistance to those affected by the disaster.
