Former Eastern Regional Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Evelyn Korang, has won the Eastern Regional Council of State elections with 17 votes.
In total, 24 individuals contested the election, with 2 withdrawing from the race. 66 delegates participated in the voting process.
Mrs Korang is expected to represent the region as the counsellor to the President, John Dramani Mahama, in administration of his constitutional mandate.
With her vast experience in politics, Mrs Evelyn Korang pledges to use her new portfolio to ensure the well-being of the region and that her doors would be opened to all.
“I extend my appreciation to all, God bless you all,” she concluded.
On her part, the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, expressed appreciation to delegates for conducting themselves orderly.
