A devastating rock blasting incident on the Buduburam stretch of the Accra-Winneba highway has left four people feared dead and several others in critical condition.
The explosion, caused by a construction company working on the road, has triggered widespread alarm and grief among locals.
Eyewitnesses reported that the rock blast, which lasted only a few minutes, was conducted after vehicles on the stretch were stopped to allow the activity.
However, this isn’t the first time such an occurrence has happened.
Residents in the area have long complained about the destruction caused by the blasts, including damage to roofing sheets around the Big Apple area whenever construction is ongoing.
Following the deadly incident, some enraged residents attacked workers from the company.
Citi News sources confirmed that a Chinese national leading the construction team has been arrested, and the injured have been transported to St. Gregory Hospital in Buduburam for urgent medical care.
