Preparations toward the final funeral rites of highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have resumed after an Accra High Court lifted the injunction that had halted all arrangements.
The court had earlier today 12th December, 2025 suspended the funeral following an application by the maternal side of the Fosuh family, who argued that the family head (Abusuapanyin), Kofi Owusu, had sidelined them in the planning process. The court, at the time, ordered all parties to reconvene and plan a unified burial.
However, during proceedings later in the day, the court ruled that the applicants failed to comply with a key directive requiring them to provide a GHC 2 million undertaking. The undertaking was meant to cover potential costs or damages that could arise from the injunction if their case was unsuccessful.
Their inability to meet this condition compelled the court to lift the restrictions, effectively clearing the way for the funeral to proceed as scheduled on Friday, December 13.
With the ban lifted, Transitions Funeral Home is now authorised to release the body of the late musician to the family for the final rites. The Abusuapanyin and the planning committee are therefore moving ahead with preparations that had been stalled for weeks due to the legal challenge.
The lifting of the injunction brings relief to fans, friends, and industry players who had been preparing to pay their final respects to the celebrated highlife maestro.
