The Ghana Education Service has interdicted a teacher at Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region after allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student surfaced on social media.

The decision follows the circulation of a video online which reportedly shows inappropriate conduct between the teacher and a student of the school. The incident has since triggered internal action by the Service, which says it is treating the matter with urgency.

In a statement issued on June 16, 2026, and signed by its Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the GES confirmed it had taken note of the viral footage and had commenced processes to establish the facts surrounding the case.

“Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has become aware of a disturbing video of an alleged sexual misconduct circulating on social media involving a teacher and a student of Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region,” the statement said.

The Service further indicated that disciplinary measures had been activated pending the outcome of investigations, in line with its regulations.

“Management has initiated investigations into the matter. Pending the outcome of the investigations, Management directs that the teacher is interdicted in accordance with GES rules and regulations,” the statement added.

Reiterating its stance on professional conduct, the GES condemned any form of inappropriate relationship between teachers and students, stressing a zero-tolerance approach to sexual misconduct within schools.

“Management strongly condemns all forms of amorous relationships between teachers and students. The Service reiterates its zero-tolerance towards sexual misconduct and cautions all staff to uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and conduct at all times,” the statement noted.

The Service also assured the public that it remains committed to safeguarding students in all educational institutions, adding that any staff member found culpable after investigations will face both disciplinary and legal consequences.
